Mitsubishi’s bestseller in the U.S., the Outlander Sport offers economy and affordability in a compact crossover. Introduced in 2011 as the little brother of the standard Outlander, the Sport received fresh exterior styling and extra cabin insulation for 2013. All-wheel drive is now available across the board, and 18-inch wheel are standard in all forms.
The Sport provides easy, car-like handling and rides comfortably on the highway, where it gets 31 mpg from its 2-liter four-cylinder—impressive for any non-hybrid crossover. Acceleration is merely adequate, but that’s easily overlooked by buyers on a budget.
